Media lawyers and human rights organisations have expressed concern over the possible restriction of journalists' access to MPs in the corridors of the Kurultai. In their view, the new requirements should have a clear legal basis, be officially adopted and published in advance.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population has developed a draft of the Rules for maintaining the state register of psychologists, as well as for including specialists in the register and removing them from it. The document has been put out for public consultation until 15 September 2026.

Three "Keleshek mektebi" schools opened in Atyrau Region on Knowledge Day

In the Atyrau region, three new schools were brought into operation on the first day of the academic year under the national project "Keleshek mektebi" — two in the villages of the Kurmangazy district and one in the town of Kulsary. This completes the construction of all nine schools planned under the project in the region.

In the Karaganda region, practical implementation has begun on the 'Northern Katpar' project, linked to investments from the sons of US President Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. Together with the 'Verkhneye Kairakty' deposit, the project, according to current estimates, could produce around 12,000 tonnes of tungsten products per year — approximately 15% of the current global mining volume.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda Region found no grounds for criminal prosecution of doctors in the case of the death of Meruert Aulbayeva. According to the department's findings, the violation committed by one of the doctors is not considered gross and does not contain elements of criminal offences. Meanwhile, the surgeon found guilty of negligence avoided punishment due to the expiry of the statute of limitations in the case.

The Ministry of Water Resources recognised violations at the Ileksky quarries

Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan has for the first time confirmed violations at quarries in the floodplain of the Ilek River in the Aktobe region. Companies have been fined over 1.5 million tenge for illegal sand extraction and unauthorised blocking of the river channel. A comprehensive assessment of the impact on the hydrology of the Ilek is not provided for by the department.

The veterinary community has criticised the Ministry of Agriculture's position on foot-and-mouth disease.

The Committee insists that the Tasotkel Reservoir is fuller than it was this time last year, yet the question of the logic behind the discharges across the region as a whole remains open.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation stated that it had forecast the risk of drought and water shortage in the Zhambyl Region in advance. At the same time, large-scale water releases from reservoirs were carried out in the south of Kazakhstan in the spring, raising questions about the logic of water resource management in the face of an expected shortage.
