The Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda Region found no grounds for criminal prosecution of doctors in the case of the death of Meruert Aulbayeva. According to the department's findings, the violation committed by one of the doctors is not considered gross and does not contain elements of criminal offences. Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan has for the first time confirmed violations at quarries in the floodplain of the Ilek River in the Aktobe region. Companies have been fined over 1.5 million tenge for illegal sand extraction and unauthorised blocking of the river channel. A comprehensive assessment of the impact on the hydrology of the Ilek is not provided for by the department.
