An early election of maslikhat deputies will be financed from the Government reserve. The exact amount of expenditure has not yet been determined: it will depend on the length of the election campaign and the number of polling stations.

WHERE THE MONEY FOR THE ELECTION WILL COME FROM

According to Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, funds for holding the election will be allocated from the Government reserve after the Central Election Commission (CEC) calculates the necessary expenditure.

Zhumangarin clarified that the CEC will determine the sum once the length of the election campaign and the number of polling stations are known.

RESERVE OR REPUBLICAN BUDGET

Minister of Finance Madi Takiyev also commented on the source of financing. According to him, the expenditure will be provided for from the republican budget, while this refers to the Government reserve rather than funds initially earmarked for these purposes in the budget.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE UPCOMING ELECTION

In September, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced his intention to terminate early the powers of maslikhats at all levels. According to him, the early termination of powers and the subsequent election should open the way to a renewal of the deputy corps.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mukhtar Yerman reported that the early election of maslikhat deputies at all levels had been scheduled for 29 November 2026. According to him, the election campaign will last 48 days. The nomination of candidates began on 14 October and will end on 27 October; the registration of candidates and party lists — 1 November.
