Two citizens of Kazakhstan, Anuar Abdrakhmanov and Tair Smagul, have been charged in the US with massive fraud involving Medicare and insurance payouts totalling more than $1 billion. According to the investigation, through the companies Priority One Medical Equipment and Medical Home Care Inc., fraudulent invoices were submitted for medical equipment and services that patients never received.

In 2025, the Pavlodar Region Prosecutor's Office protected the state's material interests by returning 66 billion tenge to the budget, preventing unjustified expenses and recovering damages.
