Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Committee of National Security (CNS) have detained members of an organised group in Astana and Almaty. According to the investigation, the suspects are involved in the abduction of a person, extortion, and intentional destruction of another person's property.
Six defendants have already been placed in a temporary detention facility (TDF), and operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
HOW THE CONFLICT DEVELOPED
According to Polisia.kz, in one incident in Almaty, a group of criminals abducted a local resident and, using violence, demanded 12 million tenge.
In addition, cases of pressure on business representatives have been recorded. In some instances, according to the investigation, arson attacks on vehicles were used as a means of intimidation.
LAW ENFORCEMENT MEASURES
During the operation, more than 20 searches were carried out. Large sums of money, bladed weapons, and other physical evidence were seized.
Six defendants have been placed in the TDF. Operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
