On 23 April, a heavy downpour occurred in the city of Kentau, Turkestan Region, leading to flooding of streets, markets and the entrances to residential buildings. In some areas, water levels reached 10–25 cm. Rescue workers and municipal services were deployed to deal with the aftermath.

The Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has completed an internal investigation into the conflict between the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sport of the Karaganda Region, Serik Sapiyev, and his deputy, Dauren Yesimkhanov. Based on the findings of the investigation, it was determined that the head of the department’s actions show signs of violating the requirements of the Code of Ethics for Civil Servants. Environmentalists have identified the source of contamination in the ditches with pink-red water in the city of Makinsk, Akmola Region. Following an inspection, responsibility has been placed on a local industrial enterprise — Makinsk Thermal Insulation Plant LLP. An administrative protocol has been drawn up against the company, and the materials have been sent to court.
