Two citizens of Afghanistan have died as a result of an armed clash on the Tajik-Afghan border. The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan reported that the men crossed the border illegally and, according to the agency, were involved in drug smuggling.

An oil and gas enterprise in Mangistau is being inspected after violations were identified.

The criminal case into the death of 13-year-old Dinmukhamed during a kokpar game in the Tselinograd district of the Akmola region was closed on 29 July 2026. The teenager's family disagrees with the decision and demands that the investigation be resumed. The boy died on 26 May after sustaining severe injuries during the game.

The National Bureau of Statistics has published data on household food consumption for 2025. The study covered 11,712 households across the country. The gap in diet between the least affluent 10% and the most affluent 10% of the population for meat was 3.3 times.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, as of 1 January 2026, there were 2,175.6 thousand small and medium-sized business entities operating in Kazakhstan. Output for January–December 2025 amounted to 104.8 trillion tenge — a 12.3% increase compared to 2024, taking inflation into account.

An internal report of the Rosselkhoznadzor, confirming an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease strain SAT1 in Russia, is being actively circulated in open sources. The same strain has been detected in China near the Kazakh border. Meanwhile, thousands of sick saiga antelopes in the West Kazakhstan region are coming into contact with livestock, potentially carrying the virus.
