A resident of Karaganda, Anna Zakharova, has put up for sale a watch that was personally given to her by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The price is around 2.9 million tenge, and the seller is open to negotiation.
HOW THE WATCH CAME ABOUT
Zakharova received the watch in 2023 during a meeting with the President. She gave Kassym-Jomart Tokayev a six-week-old Tazy puppy, after which she received a watch bearing his signature from the Head of State.
The owner describes the gift as a keepsake and a status symbol, but notes that she does not plan to wear it. According to her, the necessary documents will be handed over to the buyer along with the watch.
WHAT THE WATCH IS BEING SOLD FOR
The listing on Kaspi Classifieds states a price of 2,899,000 tenge. Zakharova also said she is willing to consider a reasonable offer.
The watch is a women's model and is located in Karaganda. The seller also stated that she could post the item to any country.
HOW THEY SEE THE PRICE'S FUTURE
Zakharova believes the watch could be of interest to collectors and have investment potential. In her view, items linked to historical events and statesmen may acquire additional value over time.
However, the forecast that the value could rise to 30 million tenge in 10 years is the owner's own estimate.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE PREVIOUS PRICE
In the comments on the post, one user said that Zakharova had previously listed the watch for 1.5 million tenge, but according to her, no buyer was found at that price. When asked about the earlier price, Zakharova replied that she would be willing to sell the watch to that particular user for 1.5 million tenge.
