In Almaty on 17 August, a man was detained on suspicion of sexually violent acts against a woman born in 1961, who is his mother-in-law. The police are investigating the criminal case.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the foundation "NeMolchi", the man went to the woman's home under the pretext of having tea. Relatives claim that he took advantage of her helpless state and committed sexually violent acts against her.
On the same day, the victim's daughter, who is the suspect's wife, contacted the police. According to the family, the woman had previously suffered a serious accident and is still dealing with the consequences.
WHY THE QUESTION OF THE EXPERT EXAMINATION AROSE
According to the foundation, the victim could not undergo the forensic medical examination immediately. The post states that the police order was not accepted at the morgue due to errors in the paperwork.
Three days had passed by the time the foundation's appeal was published, yet the woman, according to her relatives, still had not undergone the forensic medical examination.
The "NeMolchi" foundation appealed to the prosecutor of Almaty asking them to intervene in the situation.
WHAT THE POLICE SAID
The Police Department (DP) of the city of Almaty stated that a criminal case had been opened regarding the incident. The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility (ITV).
The police stated that the man's actions would be given a legal assessment following the investigation. If his guilt is established, he will face punishment.
