In Kazakhstan on 21 August users reported problems accessing eGov and government agency websites. Access to these resources has now been restored, and the information systems are operating normally.

WHAT IS KNOWN

According to Detector404, users are complaining that pages fail to load, the personal account will not open, and there are also problems with eGov Mobile. According to the service's statistics over the last 24 hours, 40% of reports are linked to a general outage, with a further 20% relating to the website, the mobile app and the personal account.

The service has also recorded an increase in network failures at the same time as a rise in the number of complaints.

WHICH REGIONS REPORTED THE MOST COMPLAINTS

Adjusted for population size, the highest number of reports came from Almaty, Astana, Kostanay Region, Aktobe Region, Karaganda Region and West Kazakhstan Region (WKR).

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CAUSES

According to official information, the temporary unavailability was caused by heightened activity in external internet traffic. This triggered the protection mechanisms of the Kazakh internet segment, leading to the short-term unavailability of certain resources when accessed from the internet.

As such, the outage did not affect all government resources and was temporary in nature.

Internet traffic has now been restored. eGov.kz and other government information systems are operating normally.
