Former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son Sedrak Kocharyan have been detained as part of a criminal investigation into alleged corruption offences. Searches were also carried out at the home of the ex-president's other son, MP Levon Kocharyan.

The oil refinery (ORP) of JSC "Kondensat" in the West Kazakhstan Region (WKR) has agreed to process Russian oil. Up to 30% of the petrol and diesel fuel produced will remain in Kazakhstan, with the remainder being sent to Russia.

According to Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, the ministry has received an official request from the Russian Ministry of Energy to load the plant with Russian oil.

In January 2026, VAT receipts in Kazakhstan fell 19.8% short of the plan, with a shortfall of 61.9 billion tenge. Meanwhile, corporate income tax and non-tax revenues exceeded forecasts. Transfers from the National Fund and borrowings decreased, while budget spending was absorbed more slowly, which reduced the deficit.

The Government of Kazakhstan has allocated over 40.7 billion tenge for geological exploration.

The Government of Kazakhstan has allocated over 40.7 billion tenge for the implementation of 20 second-generation geological survey projects at a scale of 1:50,000, covering approximately 100,000 square kilometres in various regions of the country. The work includes aerogeophysical surveys, geochemistry, and digital data processing to update geological maps and identify promising mineral deposit sites.

The Supreme Judicial Council considered the submission of the Chairman of the Supreme Court regarding staffing changes and dismissed Yerbol Akhmetzhanov from the position of acting chairman of the Zhambyl Regional Court. He had been heading the court since 27 February 2020.

Cyber surveillance in Kazakhstan removed 94,000 illegal materials in 2025

In 2025, 128,483 violations were identified in Kazakhstan’s internet space. Access has been restricted to 33,624 resources, and 94,859 pieces of unlawful content have been removed. These figures are given in the government’s official response to a parliamentary request.
