In the West Kazakhstan Region, a criminal case is being investigated concerning the rape of a minor, in which a 57-year-old man, who sources say holds the position of a high-ranking official, is suspected.

HOW THE CASE DEVELOPED

According to the victim's father, the incident occurred on 2 January. The man reported that the suspect deceived his underage daughter into coming to his home and committed assault, reports the publication "Uralsk Week".

After a statement was made to the police, the suspect was detained. The victim's father claims the man confessed to the crime, and the girl identified him.

However, according to the complainant, the suspect was released and allowed to go home. After that, he began receiving threats on his phone from the suspect.

Journalists approached the police for comment. In the department's response, it stated that a decision on the preventive measure would be made later, following investigative actions.

WHY THE CASE HAS ATTRACTED PUBLIC ATTENTION

The victim's father stated that, in his opinion, the investigation is being conducted reluctantly. He said the family recently hired a lawyer because they lacked sufficient funds for legal representation.

WHAT THE SUSPECT FACES

The case has been initiated by the police department of the Chingirlau District under Part 3-1, Clause of Article 120 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Rape"). Investigative actions are ongoing.

The suspect has not yet been taken into custody. The police stated that the issue of applying a preventive measure in the form of detention will be resolved after a series of investigative actions have been carried out.
