A brief drop in voltage occurred in the external power supply network of JSC «KEGOC» at 220 kV at the Shymkent oil refinery. The power supply has already been restored, and specialists are restarting one of the process units.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PLANT

According to LLP «PKOP», which manages the Shymkent refinery, the incident was caused by a voltage drop on the side of the external power supply source — the JSC «KEGOC» network at 220 kV.

According to information from Petrocouncil.kz, the catalytic cracking unit shut down due to a deep voltage sag. LLP «PKOP» confirmed the incident.

HOW THE ENTERPRISE IS OPERATING

The power supply has already been restored. Specialists are now restarting one of the process units, while the remaining facilities are operating normally.

The company also stated that there is no threat of a complete shutdown of the plant. The automation and emergency protection systems make it possible to minimise the consequences of such voltage fluctuations.

DID THE INCIDENT AFFECT FUEL PRODUCTION

LLP «PKOP» reported that the incident did not affect the daily volume of petroleum product output. Fuel shipments are continuing without interruption.

CONTEXT

Earlier, on the territory of the Atyrau oil refinery, a fire occurred involving oil sludge in the settling tank of the mechanical treatment facilities. The fire was completely extinguished, and there were no casualties.
