On the territory of the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ), a fire broke out in oil sludge in the settler of the mechanical treatment facilities on 25 August. The fire was fully extinguished, and there were no casualties.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the press service of ANPZ, the fire occurred at 12:35 in the settler of the mechanical treatment facilities (MOS) of the enclosed type. At the time of the incident, no work was being carried out at the facility.
Inside the settler, oil sludge — waste generated during the extraction and refining of oil — caught fire.
ANPZ reported that the incident did not halt the plant's operations. The refinery continues to operate as normal.
HOW THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED
The Ministry for Emergency Situations (MES) reported that a signal about the incident was received by rescuers at 12:55. Forces and resources were dispatched to the scene under an elevated response level.
Firefighting efforts involved 65 personnel and 19 units of equipment from the MES, "Semser ort sondirushi", ATMA airport, and the rescue service of the company NCOC. An operational headquarters was set up on site to coordinate the deployed forces and resources.
WHEN THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED
At 13:42, rescuers contained the fire and stopped its spread. Later, the blaze was fully extinguished.
According to the MES, there were no casualties as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire is being established.
