Ministry of Energy is using a Unified Digital Platform with elements of artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics to monitor coal movements ahead of the upcoming heating season. The system tracks fuel deliveries and automatically identifies risks of shortages and deviations from approved schedules.
HOW COAL DEMAND IS ASSESSED
The demand for coal from the population and the municipal and domestic sector for the upcoming heating season stands at 7.3 million tonnes. Of this volume, 1.6 million tonnes is allocated to the municipal and domestic sector, with a further 5.7 million tonnes for the population.
By comparison, actual consumption during the previous heating season was 8.3 million tonnes. As reported by Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov at a meeting of the Government, the reduction in demand is linked to the implementation of the General Scheme for the Country's Gasification until 2035.
HOW THE DIGITAL PLATFORM TRACKS DELIVERIES
To ensure uninterrupted coal supplies to the regions, the ministry has developed a Unified Digital Platform with elements of AI and predictive analytics.
The system integrates data from 36 coal mining enterprises, information on coal transportation by rail using 29,000 semi-wagons, details on the operations of 586 coal dead-end terminal operators, as well as data on more than 1.2 million consumers.
The platform enables real-time tracking of coal from extraction and loading through to delivery to the population and the municipal and domestic sector. The system also automatically identifies risks of shortages and deviations from approved schedules.
WHO COORDINATES PREPARATION FOR THE HEATING SEASON
Coordination of supplies is carried out by the Republican Headquarters. According to Yerlan Akkenzhenov, the Ministry of Energy has taken the necessary measures to ensure the domestic market receives the required volumes of coal for the upcoming heating season.
The digital platform is expected to provide continuous monitoring of fuel movement across all key stages of supply.
