Artificial intelligence is set to be introduced into the law enforcement system in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, plans are in place to introduce artificial intelligence into the law enforcement system. AI will be used for video monitoring, traffic control, and migration management. There will also be a strengthened focus on crime prevention, digitalisation of Ministry of Internal Affairs services, and community engagement, including the protection of minors and victims of domestic violence.

Illegal issuance of loans secured by collateral is being investigated in Uralsk

In Uralsk, an illegal microfinance operation is under investigation: loans secured by jewellery were issued without a licence through a scheme involving a pawnbroker-style shop. Loans were disguised as commission agreements, and interest was masked as storage fees. The total revenue exceeded 128 million tenge, and part of the suspect's property has been seized.

The rules for registering applications in the URDR have been updated in Kazakhstan.

In Kazakhstan, the rules for recording reports of offences and maintaining the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URPI) have been updated. Order No. 37 of the Prosecutor General introduces automatic registration of messages from electronic services and clarifies the procedure for statistical recording and electronic access to case materials.

Court No.2 of Atyrau has replaced the prison sentence of former deputy akim of Atyrau Region, Bakytgul Khamenova, with 7 years of restricted liberty under probation supervision. The decision was made after the expiry of a three-year deferral of the sentence in a bribery case.

The signing of the Constitution launched a large-scale transformation of Kazakhstan's political system

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, adopted on 15 March 2026, and a decree on measures for its implementation. The document launches a large-scale reform of the country's legal and political system. In the near future, five new constitutional laws are planned to be introduced to Parliament, as well as amendments to more than 60 existing laws.

A court in the Aktobe region has found six members of a group guilty of organising the sale of psychotropic substances through the online store "Qymyz shop". They have been sentenced to between 15 and 17 years' imprisonment.

License plate numbers for rental e-scooters are being introduced in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has approved rules for identifying rental e-scooters in Kazakhstan. According to the order, kick-sharing operators will independently assign registration numbers to the devices and maintain their records. The new requirements will come into force on 1 July 2026 and apply only to commercial rental services.

Criminal investigation into fraud launched following film studio castings in Almaty

In Almaty, police are investigating a criminal case under the article “Fraud” following complaints from parents of children who took part in castings held by the film studio Jan Production. Families were offered the chance to take part in short film shoots for a fee of around 1.5 million tenge. According to the parents, after the money was paid, the shoots did not take place, and the company’s office turned out to be closed.

The prosecutor's office of the Burabay district uncovered violations in the organisation of school meals at the Saken Seifullin School in the village of Burabay. The supplier provided inaccurate information about their qualifications and effectively transferred the performance of the services to a third party. Following the inspection, the contract was terminated, the school director was dismissed from their post, and those responsible were subjected to disciplinary action.

The Financial Monitoring Agency has put out a wanted notice for Dmytro Druzhynskyi (27.06.1970, USA) and Maryna Levkovych (08.11.1985, Ukraine). They are suspected of organising online casinos under the brands "PIN-UP" and "PINCO". The court has sanctioned their pre-trial detention in absentia.
