Law enforcement agencies have completed their investigation into the case of a schoolgirl's attempted suicide on the grounds of a private international school in Almaty. Despite public statements by the child's father, Kanat Amirkin, about prolonged bullying and inaction by the administration, the bullying version of events was not confirmed within the criminal case.

INVESTIGATION OUTCOMES

Based on the results of the investigative actions, no facts of bullying that could have led to the suicide attempt were established. Consequently, the criminal case has been closed due to the absence of a criminal offence.

The decision to terminate the investigation has been confirmed by the prosecution authorities. The case materials do not specify which particular pieces of evidence, testimonies, or expert conclusions formed the basis of the investigation's conclusions. It is also not reported whether other versions of events were considered within the framework of the case.

FATHER'S POSITION

The schoolgirl's father, Kanat Amirkin, commenting on the closure of the case, stated that he does not blame other students and is against the bullying of children on either side of the conflict. According to him, all his questions are directed at the adults responsible for school management and ensuring children's safety.

Amirkin claims that he repeatedly contacted the school's administration asking them to look into the situation and take action, but, according to him, there was no response from the school. He believes that with timely administrative intervention, the conflict could have been resolved within the school without the situation reaching a critical point.

The father also reported that following publications about the incident, he received messages from other parents describing similar situations. He emphasised, however, that he views such messages as signals requiring verification by the competent authorities, rather than as established or proven facts.

BACKGROUND TO THE INCIDENT

According to Kanat Amirkin, signs of possible psychological pressure on the child appeared last year. During this period, the girl temporarily studied at a school in Astana, but after a month returned and continued her education at her original school in Almaty.

After returning, the schoolgirl began skipping classes and refused to attend lessons. On the day of the incident, the father sent the school management a letter asking them to discuss the situation and take action. A few hours later, the child was hospitalised and subsequently placed in intensive care.

CHILD'S CONDITION

According to information from the family, at present, the parents have limited contact with their daughter. Access to the child at the medical facility is restricted due to sanitary measures, and personal communication is not permitted.
