The Ministry of Internal Affairs has approved the requirements for the identification of rental electric scooters. The new regulations will come into force 1 July 2026 and will only apply to the commercial sector — personal vehicles do not need to be registered.
REGISTRATION SYSTEM AND ALLOCATION OF RESPONSIBILITY
Rental (e-scooter sharing) operators themselves will maintain the register and assign numbers. The procedure consists of two stages:
- Letter code. Each company chooses one Latin letter for its fleet. The choice must be notified in writing to other market participants. If no objections are raised within five working days, the letter is assigned to the operator.
- Digital index. A five-digit serial number (starting from 00001). After the scooter is written off, the number is not reused.
TECHNICAL PARAMETERS AND PLACEMENT OF NUMBERS
The order establishes requirements for the size and visibility of registration marks:
- Rear number: at least 136 × 136 mm, black characters on a white background.
- Side numbers: at least 45 × 186 mm, placed on the handlebar stem on both sides.
- Visibility: the numbers must have a reflective coating, with a character height of at least 30 mm. Materials must be resistant to moisture and mechanical damage.
INTERACTION WITH STATE AUTHORITIES
Control over the implementation of the order is assigned to the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From July 2026, rental operators will be responsible for the accuracy of data in the registers and the integrity of the registration numbers on their devices.
