The Prosecutor's Office of Pavlodar Region has initiated pre-trial proceedings for the confiscation of property as part of an investigation into the illegal receipt of social payments under the Oralman resettlement programme.
WHAT PROMPTED THE INQUIRY
According to the supervisory authority, within the framework of a criminal case concerning the embezzlement of budget funds during the implementation of the Oralman resettlement programme, separate pre-trial proceedings for the confiscation of property were initiated.
The investigation established that a citizen of Afghanistan, having submitted knowingly false information and documents regarding his Kazakh ethnicity, received social payments.
WHAT PROPERTY HAS BEEN SEIZED
As reported by the prosecutor's office, a flat worth 20 million tenge was purchased with the funds received.
To prevent possible money laundering, the court, at the request of the prosecutor's office, decided to confiscate the property in favour of the state.
The court order has not yet entered into legal force.
