Burabay District Court has announced the sentence for three defendants in the case of the explosion and fire at the “Centre of Plov” café in Shchuchinsk. The three individuals involved in the case have received prison sentences ranging from 6 to 7 years.

In July–August 2026, the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee (ACS NSC) registered 201 corruption offences in Kazakhstan. Under criminal cases, 140 people were recognised as suspects, and 110 cases were sent to court.

Instead of 116 tenge, residents and business owners in the village of Glebovka, Kostanay Region, were paying 5.5 thousand tenge for each cubic metre of drinking water. The tariff turned out to be 45 times higher.

A Ukrainian court is considering the case of Serhii Kropyva, head of the cyber department of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The investigation suspects him of involvement in a criminal organisation linked to the work of call centres. An episode connected with Kazakhstan and international legal cooperation has appeared in the court hearing materials.

Prices for certain socially significant products in Kazakhstan have risen by 10.6–87.3% over the year. At the same time, the Bureau of National Statistics reported that prices for food products rose by 9.5% over the year.

From the apartment of former Akim of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek in Astana, expensive watches have gone missing. His wife Zhanar Baibek, who valued the eight missing chronographs at 170 million tenge, has filed a report with law enforcement agencies.

On the state property portal E-qazyna, seven former service dogs of the border service department of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been put up for sale. One lot is a German Shepherd named “Mayorka” in Pavlodar Region, and the second is six dogs in Zhambyl Region. The bidding starts on 10 September 2026.

In the Urzhar district of the Abai region, a Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Centre with 12 beds is being built – a specialised unit for emergency heart operations without opening the chest. The nearest existing centre for such operations is 175 kilometres away in Ayagoz. Last year, 189 patients from the district had to be taken there.

On the E-qazyna electronic platform, a tender has been announced for the purchase of a batch of saiga horns totalling 1 tonne. The starting price of the lot is 1,227,148,000 tenge, with bidding set to begin on 8 September 2026. The seller is JSC «Zhasyl damu», and the balance holder is the Republican State Enterprise «Production Association «Okhotzoooprom».

East Star Resources Plc has identified a new geophysical anomaly at the Snezhnoe licence area in Central Kazakhstan. Its extent is approximately 1.7 km, although the origin of the anomaly and the presence of gold mineralisation still require further investigation.
