The execution of the revenue portion of the republican budget for January–February 2026 exceeded the planned targets. A significant portion of receipts traditionally materialises at the end of February.

GROWTH IN TAX REVENUE

As of 1 March 2026, the tax revenue plan was fulfilled at 113.7%. 2,979.0 billion tenge was received into the budget.

Compared to the same period last year, growth amounted to 129.4%, or an increase of 677.5 billion tenge.

KEY SOURCES OF INCOME

The main dynamic was driven by budget-forming taxes.

For corporate income tax (CIT), the growth rate reached 116.9%, which amounts to an additional 118.0 billion tenge.

For value added tax (VAT), growth was higher — 138.8%, or +428.6 billion tenge compared to the same period last year.

VAT plan fulfilment as of 1 March stood at 119.8%: with a plan of 1,281.0 billion tenge, 1,534.5 billion tenge was received into the budget.

WHY JANUARY ASSESSMENTS WERE INACCURATE

Earlier, expert assessments were published in the media, based solely on January 2026 data. However, the deadline for paying a number of key payments for the fourth quarter of 2025 fell on 25 February 2026.

This means that a significant portion of receipts is traditionally generated at the end of February.

Consequently, the January data did not reflect the actual volume of revenue for the two-month period.
