Going under the hammer are former service dogs of the border service of the National Security Committee (NSC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The seller for both lots is the state enterprise «Kazarnaulyeksport» («Kazspetseksport»), subordinate to the State Defence Order Committee of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
WHAT IS UP FOR SALE
The first lot is a German Shepherd named «Mayorka», which was on the books of the Border Service Department of the NSC of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Pavlodar Region. The starting price for the dog is 935 tenge, the minimum is 94 tenge, and the guarantee deposit required to participate in the auction is 141 tenge.
The second lot is a group of six dogs of Eastern European and German Shepherd breeds: «Mike», «Milo», «Mig», «Mel», «Mansur» and «Mais». They were on the books of the Border Service Department of the NSC of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Zhambyl Region. The starting price for the lot is 11,552 tenge, the minimum is 1,156 tenge, and the guarantee deposit is 1,733 tenge.
WHERE THE ANIMALS SERVED
The dog «Mayorka» was stationed in the Zhelezinsky rural district of the Zhelezinka district of the Pavlodar Region — an area bordering Russia.
The six dogs in the second lot were assigned to border units in the Korday district of the Zhambyl Region, in the settlements of Sortobe, Korday and Karasu — this is a section of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border.
HOW THE AUCTION WILL WORK
The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the auction for both lots is 10 September 2026 at 09:55, with the auctions themselves starting on the same day at 10:00. At the time of publication, both lots are in the «Accepting applications» status.
It is worth noting that this is far from the first such lot on the E-qazyna portal. In February, three service dogs from the border service were put up for auction in the Kostanay Region — a Belgian Shepherd named «Mayra» (starting price 2,719 tenge) and German Shepherds «Marquise» and «Maybach» (at 935 tenge each).
All three were 10 years old and had served the maximum term. Under supply regulations, this is 8 years and 3 months, after which dogs are deemed unfit for service and reclassified as unusable military property.
At the time, the publication of the lot sparked public outcry. Bairam Baubekuly, who had been monitoring the electronic auctions, said it was the first time in three years he had come across such lots, and a veterinarian from Kostanay who responded identified «Mayra» and offered to take her.
It is also worth noting that the value of service dogs is not limited to border service. Four-legged helpers have repeatedly proven their indispensability in other law enforcement agencies in Kazakhstan as well.
For instance, a service dog named «Bucha» from the Canine Service Centre of the police department of the Atyrau Region detects explosives and serves at strategic sites and mass events in the region alongside a dog-handling inspector, Police Senior Sergeant Rakhymzhan Yerbolat.
Training a service dog is a lengthy and costly process, and its fate after the end of its service is no less a matter of responsibility.
