Instead of 116 tenge, residents and business owners in the village of Glebovka, Kostanay Region were paying 5.5 thousand tenge for each cubic metre of drinking water. The tariff turned out to be 45 times higher.

WHAT IS KNOWN

According to Almaty.tv, the high cost of water supply was uncovered by prosecutors in Denisov District. Residents and business owners in the village were paying 5.5 thousand tenge per cubic metre of drinking water.

Water supply services are subject to subsidisation, but the tariff in the village was not reviewed in a timely manner. It is unclear how long residents and business owners had been paying the old price.

HOW THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED

After the prosecutor's oversight report was reviewed, drinking water in the village was added to the list of subsidised services. The cost of one cubic metre was reduced from 5.5 thousand tenge to 116 tenge.

As reported by the Acting Prosecutor of Denisov District, Miras Mizanbayev, the measures taken protected the rights of 430 village residents, including 21 business entities.

CONTEXT

In March 2024, the FBRC reported on problems with the development of water supply in Kostanay Region. At the time, at a meeting of the regional board for energy and housing and communal services, it was stated that by the end of 2025, 145 villages needed to be provided with water supply, including six villages in Denisov District
