East Star Resources Plc has identified a new geophysical anomaly at the Snezhnoe licence area in Central Kazakhstan. Its extent is approximately 1.7 km, however the origin of the anomaly and the presence of gold mineralisation still require further investigation.
WHAT THE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS SHOWED
As reported by East Star Resources Plc, in 2026 the company carried out additional surveys approximately 1 km to the east of the area where work was undertaken the previous year.
On the surface of this territory, altered volcanic rocks and numerous quartz veinlets had previously been discovered. The company notes that such features may indicate gold mineralisation.
The new surveys identified an anomaly which extends from west to east for approximately 1.7 km and begins at a depth of around 100 m. It remains open in both directions.
WHY THE RESULTS REQUIRE FURTHER VERIFICATION
The amplitude of the anomaly ranges from 7 to 9 mV/V. According to the company's assessment, such values may be characteristic of gold-bearing systems of a similar type.
However, the source of the anomaly has not yet been established. Determining it will require additional surveys and, potentially, drilling. Thus, the geophysical feature detected does not in itself confirm the presence of a deposit.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE SNEZHNOE LICENCE AREA
The Snezhnoe licence area is located between two known gold deposits with a similar style of mineralisation. Samples containing gold have also previously been collected from its surface.
The Chief Executive Officer of East Star Resources Plc, Alex Walker, stated that the company regards the licence area as prospective for further exploration work. The timing of the next phase of studies will be determined taking into account the company's other projects.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The geophysical anomaly is the result of one of the early stages of exploration work. In order to establish whether it is associated with gold mineralisation, further study of the licence area is required.
East Star Resources Plc is conducting exploration for gold and copper in Kazakhstan. Its projects include a joint venture with Xinhai Mining Services Limited for the development of the Verkhuba deposit, as well as exploration work at other prospective licence areas.
