In Kazakhstan, an investigation into the illegal import of freight vehicles that do not meet environmental requirements has been completed. According to the investigation, 20 vehicles with the Euro-2 environmental class were brought into the country through controlled companies, despite a current ban.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Special Legal Regime of the City of Alatau". According to the supervisory authority, the accountant transferred excessive salary amounts to herself and the head of the institution, as well as funds intended for the payment of taxes and mandatory deductions.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported eight cases of hantavirus infection among passengers on the cruise ship MV Hondius. As of 6 May, three cases of infection have been laboratory-confirmed.
