In the village of Birlik, Kazaly District, Kyzylorda Region, large-scale work to eliminate the threat of flooding in the residential sector, caused by a sharp rise in water levels in the local irrigation ditch system, has been completed. On 23 April, a heavy downpour occurred in the city of Kentau, Turkestan Region, leading to flooding of streets, markets and the entrances to residential buildings. In some areas, water levels reached 10–25 cm. Rescue workers and municipal services were deployed to deal with the aftermath.
