The Shymkent court has considered a criminal case against the head of a district police department, accused of accepting a bribe. According to the prosecution, he received 6 million tenge for softening the classification of a criminal case. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting to explain the draft of Kazakhstan's new Constitution, emphasising its people-centred nature and focus on the country's long-term development. Particular attention was paid to combating disinformation about the Constitution and strengthening control over fake news on social media. The government also issued a number of specific instructions on developing science, implementing AI, and forming a new model of scientific and technological development by 2026.

The Prosecutor's Office of the North Kazakhstan Region recovered 11.2 million tenge from a contractor who improperly fulfilled obligations under government procurement contracts for major school repairs. The customer had long failed to apply for an insurance payout, which violated the law on public procurement. Court decisions and prosecutorial oversight made it possible to fully return the funds to the budget.

Eight children from the zero grade of the "Miras" school in Astana were hospitalised after lunch on 30 January 2026. Six have been diagnosed with an acute intestinal infection, and two with functional gastrointestinal disorders. An unscheduled sanitary-epidemiological inspection has been launched at the school.

On 30 January, Majilis deputy Samat Nurtaza published a photo on Threads with colleagues to mark the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's parliament. A discussion about the work of deputies arose beneath the post. In response to criticism from citizens, Nurtaza used blunt language, which provoked a negative reaction from users. The post was later deleted. The deputy has held his position since March 2023.
