How sand extraction is destroying the Ilek River in the Aktobe region

The FBK editorial office has received reports from residents of the Aktobe region concerned about the condition of the Ilek River. According to them, new quarries for the extraction of sand and sand-and-gravel mixtures are actively appearing along the floodplain. People fear that interference with the riverbed and floodplain system could have consequences not only for the ecology but also for the region's water supply.

Arrests of property in the Aktobe region have paralysed the work of farming enterprises

In the Baiganin district of the Aktobe region, dozens of farmers staged a protest outside the akimat building, demanding that their bank accounts be unblocked and the seizure of their property be lifted. According to them, the restrictions have been in place for nine months, and some villagers have even been banned from travelling abroad.

Violations totalling 12.6 billion tenge were committed by state bodies of the Zhambyl region.

For the nine months of this year, the Department of Internal State Audit identified violations in state bodies of the Zhambyl Region totalling 12.6 billion tenge. Most frequently, officials made mistakes when conducting tenders — they inflated requirements for participants, incorrectly calculated prices, and published incomplete information about procurements. This was reported by the head of the department, Marat Yegemberdiyev.
