In the Kostanay region, three officers from the Rudny criminal police department have been detained. They are suspected of receiving a bribe under Part 3 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Kostanay court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention, and a pre-trial investigation is underway.

The reconstruction project of the Irtysh-Uspenka canal, costing 7.4 billion tenge, has been delayed for six years and is now expected to be completed in 2026. The facility is intended to supply water to agricultural lands in the Pavlodar region and increase the area of irrigated land to 10,000 hectares.

A company linked to the family of Aslan Musin, the former head of the presidential administration under Nursultan Nazarbayev, owns a flat in Vienna worth nearly €4.5 million. The property is located in the central part of the city and was one of the largest transactions in the district.

In the Abai region, the investigation into the embezzlement of funds under the Agribusiness programme has been completed. According to the investigation, the head of the farm, Ykybai, obtained preferential loans using forged documents. The damage to the state is estimated at 211 million tenge, and the amount has been fully reimbursed. The case has been sent to court.

In the village of Saumalkol, North Kazakhstan Region, two workers from a contractor organisation died during repairs at a sewage pumping station. The preliminary cause of the tragedy is believed to be gas poisoning, and the police have launched an investigation.

In the Eskeldi district of the Zhetysu region, police have solved a case involving the disappearance of 39 head of purebred 'Alatau' cattle. The damage is estimated at over 46 million tenge. A 45-year-old herdsman, who had been grazing the animals for 17 years, has been detained on suspicion. All the cattle have been returned to the owner, and the investigation is ongoing.

In Kokshetau, a verdict has been handed down to three defendants in a case involving the embezzlement of over 170 million tenge during the construction of an embankment along Lake Kopa. The former head of the housing and utilities department, a technical supervision representative, and a contractor have been found guilty. The court imposed actual prison sentences ranging from 5 years and 8 months to 9 years.

Mazhilis deputy Murat Abenov has stated his readiness to take responsibility following the controversy surrounding his post about the detention of foreigners with weapons at the Highvill residential complex in Astana. The police clarified that it was not a detention, but rather antique weapons of historical and cultural value. Nazarbayev University also reported that the owners of the items are not affiliated with the university.

The national company KTZ has announced the placement of bonds worth $1 billion in two tranches with maturities of up to 5 and 10 years. The funds will be directed towards investment projects, including the purchase of locomotives from Wabtec. The placement will take place on international markets, as well as on the KASE and AIX exchanges. In light of the deal, the company’s debt burden has risen to nearly 3 trillion tenge, although KTZ states that it maintains financial stability and the ability to service its obligations.
