A citizen of Kazakhstan, suspected of bribing a police officer, has been extradited from Georgia to Kazakhstan. According to the investigation, the businessman was attempting to avoid criminal liability and ensure the uninterrupted operation of a Thai massage parlour.

Former akim of the Kenkiyak rural district in the Aktobe region, Kuanyshbek Serikzhanov, was found dead on the morning of 6 May in his own home. The day before, an order had been signed for his dismissal from the post.

A major fire broke out on the territory of the Khorgos International Centre for Cross-Border Cooperation, resulting in the destruction of 17 Kazakhstani lorries. The blaze occurred on the side of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the investigation is being conducted by the relevant Chinese authorities.

The prosecutor's office of Shymkent identified violations of land legislation during an inspection of the activities of local executive bodies. Land plots totalling 1.2 hectares with a cadastral value of 90 million tenge were returned to state ownership.

The Government of Kazakhstan has allocated approximately 2.5 billion tenge for the repair of heating networks in the Abai region. The funds will be directed towards preparing the heat supply system of the city of Semey for the upcoming heating season. The relevant decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Nurlybek Nalibayev as First Deputy Prime Minister. At the same time, he was released from his position as akim of the Kyzylorda region.
