In Almaty, the operation of one concrete plant has been temporarily suspended and it has been fined nearly 2 million tenge for violating environmental requirements. This was announced by the deputy head of the Almaty ecology department, Dinmukhamed Lesbekov, during a briefing at the regional communications service (RCS).

At the end of July, the Minister of Ecology, Yerlan Nyssanbayev, assured Kazakh citizens of the impeccable quality of saiga meat, citing strict control "from habitats to the counter". However, the responses to official inquiries from the FBK editorial board to the respective ministries paint a picture that more closely resembles a game of Chinese whispers than a system of state oversight for products made from a rare animal.

Over the last three years in the Almaty region, 1,135 land plots with a total area of 367,800 hectares have been returned to state ownership. In the city of Konayev alone, this figure amounted to more than 20,000 hectares.

TOO "Kazferrostal" has been ordered to pay a fine of 11.4 billion tenge for the illegal burial of slag and storage of scrap metal on the banks of the Malaya Almatinka River in Almaty. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has ordered that repairs in the country's schools be completed by 1 September. He noted the slow pace of work in 34 schools in Almaty, the Abai and Ulytau regions, and the West Kazakhstan, Almaty, Kyzylorda, Atyrau, Aktobe and East Kazakhstan regions.
