The FBK editorial office has received information about the possible detention in Almaty of the head of the KazTAG International News Agency, Aset Mataev, following an incident near the Dostyk Plaza shopping centre. According to a source, this involves a fight involving several people.

In the Turkestan region, the court, following a protest from the Prosecutor General's Office, reconsidered the sentence in a case involving illegal gambling. 20 million tenge of income from the convicted individual, which had not previously been seized, was confiscated and directed to state revenue.

In Kazakhstan, plans are in place to introduce artificial intelligence into the law enforcement system. AI will be used for video monitoring, traffic control, and migration management. There will also be a strengthened focus on crime prevention, digitalisation of Ministry of Internal Affairs services, and community engagement, including the protection of minors and victims of domestic violence.

In the Turkestan region, at the Shardara reservoir, police detained two people for illegal fishing. They confiscated approximately 130 kg of catch and fishing gear. A pre-trial investigation has been launched, and all circumstances are being established.

In Kazakhstan, a transnational drug scheme has been disrupted: people were recruited as drug couriers through job advertisements. Forty people have been detained, 11 of whom have been arrested. Drugs, equipment and bank cards have been seized, and the investigation is ongoing.

In Uralsk, an illegal microfinance operation is under investigation: loans secured by jewellery were issued without a licence through a scheme involving a pawnbroker-style shop. Loans were disguised as commission agreements, and interest was masked as storage fees. The total revenue exceeded 128 million tenge, and part of the suspect's property has been seized.

In Kazakhstan, the rules for recording reports of offences and maintaining the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URPI) have been updated. Order No. 37 of the Prosecutor General introduces automatic registration of messages from electronic services and clarifies the procedure for statistical recording and electronic access to case materials.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, adopted on 15 March 2026, and a decree on measures for its implementation. The document launches a large-scale reform of the country's legal and political system. In the near future, five new constitutional laws are planned to be introduced to Parliament, as well as amendments to more than 60 existing laws.

A court in the Aktobe region has found six members of a group guilty of organising the sale of psychotropic substances through the online store "Qymyz shop". They have been sentenced to between 15 and 17 years' imprisonment.
