Pollution problems in Kazakhstan have persisted despite rising environmental expenditure

In 2025, economic entities in Kazakhstan allocated 813.3 billion tenge to environmental protection. This is almost 1.8 times higher than the 2024 figure, when expenditure amounted to 456.1 billion tenge. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has commented on the circulating information about the sale on the darknet of a database containing personal data of Kazakhstani citizens. The department stated that there is as yet no confirmed data regarding a breach of e-government information systems or the acquisition of the database directly from eGov.

A darknet user has claimed to be selling a database of 15 million Kazakhstani citizens.

A darknet forum user under the handle shymzz13 has put up for sale a database which, according to their claim, contains the personal data of 15 million residents of Kazakhstan. The seller stated that they obtained the information after breaching the state service eGov.
