18 May 2026, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a regulatory resolution No. 79-NP concerning the pension provision for citizens of Kazakhstan who have left for permanent residence abroad. The Court indicated that residence outside the country, in itself, cannot serve as a basis for refusing to grant or for terminating pension payments to citizens of Kazakhstan.

In the city of Arys, Turkestan region, a car crashed into the fence of a private house, near which people were sitting on a bench. As a result of the incident, four people died, including two young children. Two more people sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised.

The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has reported the disruption of the "CVK" project, which was positioned as a marketplace. Currently, an investigation is being conducted by the territorial departments of the FMA in 14 regions of Kazakhstan.

LLP "Mezgilder Qushteri", which is implementing a project to build a wind power plant in the Ulytau region, has been refunded 55 million tenge in overpaid tax payments. The investor's rights were restored after the intervention of the prosecutor's office.

In Kyiv, a network of call centres has been shut down, through which citizens of Kazakhstan were being recruited for involvement in the illegal drug trade. As a result of the operation, 11 people have been detained.

In May 2026, the Border Service of the Committee for National Security (BS CNS) together with competent authorities detained 3,881 violators of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border area. Additionally, 1,180 cases of illegal movement of goods and cargo across the state border were prevented.

In the Turkestan region, a dispute continues over well TP-32 in the village of Derbisek, Saryagash district of the Turkestan region, where the interests of local authorities and the mineral water producer, Rauan LLP, have come into conflict. The company, which has been operating on the basis of state-issued permits for over 25 years, claims there are risks to production and investment, while local executive bodies emphasise the priority of providing the population with drinking water.

An additional 1.8 billion tenge has been allocated from the budget for car rental for Astana employees. The funds are needed to continue the multi-year project of providing staff with official transport.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that relations between Kazakhstan and Russia are developing on an upward trajectory, despite regular discussions across various areas of cooperation. He also highlighted the sectors of education, energy, industry, and the space industry as promising.

In the Zhambyl region, 96 treatment rooms were shut down following inspections. Of these, 56 rooms were operating without a licence. Additionally, 135 dental clinics were also inspected.
