Kazakhstan has been placed on a US list regarding risks of circumventing tariffs on goods from China.

The US administration has claimed there is an alleged global scheme under which goods of Chinese origin could be routed to the United States via third countries to circumvent American tariffs. Kazakhstan was among the countries included in the published list of states at risk of involvement in such schemes.

Yermukhamet Yertysbayev announced his decision to leave politics after the defeat of the National People's Party in the elections.

Former chairman of the People's Party of Kazakhstan (PPK) Yermukhamet Yertysbayev has stated that he is bringing his period of active political activity to a close following the Kurultai elections, in which the PPK failed to clear the five per cent threshold. The party received 3.11% of the vote.

A public conflict has erupted around Kazakhstan's largest semi-wild saiga breeding project in the Korgalzhyn district of the Akmola region. The proportion of smoking adults in Kazakhstan has fallen to 15.1%, reports the Bureau of National Statistics. At the same time, law enforcement agencies are recording an increase in cases of smuggled unmarked cigarettes, mainly from Kyrgyzstan.
