The Central Election Commission has announced the preliminary results of the elections to the Kurultai.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced the preliminary results of the elections for deputies of the Kurultai. Five of the seven political parties have crossed the five per cent threshold.

HOW THE VOTES WERE DISTRIBUTED

According to preliminary data from the CEC, the parties' results are as follows:

  • "Ädilet"6,528,948 votes (71.17%);
  • "Auyyl"574,621 votes (6.26%);
  • Respublica509,631 votes (5.56%);
  • "Ak Zhol"478,083 votes (5.21%);
  • OSDP469,058 votes (5.11%);
  • NPK285,395 votes (3.11%);
  • "Baitak"97,751 votes (1.07%).

WHO CROSSED THE FIVE PER CENT THRESHOLD

"Ädilet", "Auyyl", Respublica, "Ak Zhol" and OSDP will participate in the distribution of deputy mandates.

NPK and "Baitak" did not cross the 5% threshold, so their votes will not be taken into account when distributing deputy seats.

TURNOUT RECORDED

According to the CEC, 12,623,289 people are eligible to vote. A total of 9,351,539 people took part in the elections.

Preliminary turnout stood at 74.08%.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTION OF MANDATES

The five parties that crossed the 5% threshold will participate in the distribution of 145 deputy mandates.

The CEC has not yet announced the final number of seats for each party, as the official election results have not yet been established.

CONTEXT

On 23 August, elections for deputies of the Kurultai took place in Kazakhstan. Seven political parties took part in the vote.
