Residents of Petropavlovsk have been complaining for almost the whole summer about a sharp, unpleasant smell spreading across the city. Previously, according to them, this problem more often occurred in spring during the melting of ice on water bodies, but this summer the smell persists even in hot weather.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, as of 1 January 2026, there were 2,175.6 thousand small and medium-sized business entities operating in Kazakhstan. Output for January–December 2025 amounted to 104.8 trillion tenge — a 12.3% increase compared to 2024, taking inflation into account.
