School accountant embezzled 238 million tenge in Aktobe

In the Aktobe region, an accountant from secondary school No. 48 has been convicted. He was found guilty of the illegal misappropriation of budget funds.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the accountant misappropriated 230 million tenge between 2019 and 2024, funds that had been allocated for the school's needs.

"The misappropriation schemes were carried out by paying salaries above the established norm and issuing double holiday pay," the statement said.

The court found the accountant guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison, with a ban from holding materially responsible positions for 7 years.

It was previously reported that in February, it became known that the Anti-Corruption Service of the Almaty region is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the head of the State Institution "Education Department of the Ili District of the Almaty Region". She is suspected of embezzling 680 million tenge. The investigation believes that she paid salaries to individuals who did not work in secondary schools in the Ili District.

In September, in the Akmola region, an accountant from the education department of the Tselinograd district was convicted for embezzling 5.8 million tenge.

In October, a verdict was handed down in Shymkent for the chief accountant of secondary school No. 96 named after M. Auezov, who had been illegally transferring budget funds to her personal account on a monthly basis. In total, she managed to acquire 5.1 million tenge.
