The Inter-District Criminal Court of Shymkent has sentenced the chief accountant of M. Auezov Secondary School No. 96.

According to the city prosecutor's office, the institution's accountant used her official position to illegally transfer budget funds to her personal account on a monthly basis. In total, she managed to embezzle 5.1 million tenge.

"Due to the fact that the individual fully admitted guilt in this matter, the court imposed a milder punishment than is provided for this criminal offence. The amount of damage has been fully compensated to the state budget," the statement reads.

The court found the former accountant guilty and sentenced her to 3 years in prison.

It will be recalled that in January it was reported that Anticor Almaty together with the Almaty branch of the public association 'Әділдік жолы' identified financial violations at Secondary School No. 141. The accountant of that school is suspected of embezzling budget funds from 2019 to 2023, causing damage to the state amounting to 57,773,400 tenge.

In February it became known that Anticor of the Almaty Region is conducting a pre-trial investigation against the head of the State Institution 'Education Department of the Ili District, Almaty Region'

She is suspected of embezzling 680 million tenge. The investigation believes she accrued salaries for individuals who supposedly worked in secondary schools of the Ili District.

In September, in the Akmola Region, an accountant from the Education Department of the Tselinograd District was convicted of embezzling 5.8 million tenge from the budget.
