The Anti-Corruption Service for the East Kazakhstan Region is investigating a criminal case against two accountants from the regional specialised boarding school-gymnasium named after Zh. Zhabayev.
According to the department's press service, they are suspected of embezzling budget funds totalling 120 million tenge as part of a group. The suspects stole this amount by inflating salaries and other payments. They transferred these funds to their own accounts over a period of 5 years.
It is noted that since the beginning of last year, a total of 297 criminal cases related to the embezzlement of budget funds have been under investigation.
406 individuals were implicated in committing the crimes, of whom 196 were convicted and sentenced to various measures of punishment.
Recall that in September, in the Akmola Region, an accountant from the education department of the Tselinograd district was convicted for embezzling 5.8 million tenge.
In October, a sentence was passed in Shymkent on the chief accountant of secondary school No. 96 named after M. Auezov, who had been illegally transferring budget funds to her personal account on a monthly basis. In total, she managed to appropriate 5.1 million tenge.
At the same time, in the Aktobe Region, an accountant from secondary school No. 48 was convicted. He was accused of illegally appropriating 230 million tenge that had been allocated for school needs.
