<div><p>Accountant of two kindergartens embezzled 60 million tenge in the Aktobe region</p></div>

In the Mughalzhar district of the Aktobe region, an accountant for two kindergartens, Gulnara Kurmanbayeva, has been convicted. She was accused of embezzling 60 million tenge.

According to Ratel.kz, the accountant transferred her salary to herself several times a month. From December 2017 to June 2024, the defendant misappropriated 29.2 million tenge from one kindergarten and nearly the same amount from another institution. In total, Kurmanbayeva transferred more than 60 million tenge to herself.

The court found the accountant guilty and sentenced her to 7 years' imprisonment with a ban on engaging in activities involving financial responsibility in state and commercial organisations for a period of 10 years.

It will be recalled that in September, in the Akmola region, an accountant from the education department of the Tselinograd district was convicted for embezzling 5.8 million tenge.

In October, in Shymkent, a sentence was handed down to the chief accountant of secondary school No. 96 named after M. Auezov, who had been illegally transferring budget funds to her personal account every month. In total, she managed to acquire 5.1 million tenge.

Around the same time, in the Aktobe region, an accountant from secondary school No. 48 was convicted. He was accused of the illegal misappropriation of 230 million tenge, which had been allocated for the school's needs.

In mid-November, it was reported that the Anti-Corruption Agency of the East Kazakhstan Region is investigating a criminal case against two accountants from the regional specialised boarding school-gymnasium named after Zh. Zhabayev, who are suspected of embezzling 120 million tenge.
