The rural akim has been convicted of embezzling 500,000 tenge in the Abai region

In the Abay region, the court sentenced a former akim of a rural district, who was found guilty of embezzling budget funds allocated for public works. The amount of damages exceeded 500 thousand tenge.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the agency registered a pre-trial investigation and transferred the materials to the department of the Agency for Combating Corruption for a procedural decision. The case was subsequently sent to court.

Ultimately, the court found the former akim guilty under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Fraud") and sentenced her to 3 years and 6 months in prison with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service. The damage caused to the state has been fully compensated. 

Earlier, in the North Kazakhstan region, a sentence was handed down in a case involving the embezzlement of budget funds amounting to 46 million tenge. Three former employees of the akimat were in the dock.
