The AFM Department for the Almaty Region has identified new facts in the case of the former deputy of the Karasai District maslikhat and other individuals suspected of money laundering and embezzlement of budget funds.

According to the department's press service, law enforcement officers have established the involvement of the former director of one of the departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, B.S. Aimbetov, who between 2018 and 2022 participated in fraud when obtaining subsidies in the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions.

“B.K. Abishev and B.S. Aimbetov, using electronic digital signatures of 29 farms and documents on the fictitious supply of elite raspberry saplings, received subsidies totalling more than 1.5 billion tenge”, the statement says.

The investigating court has chosen a pre-trial detention measure for Aimbetov for a period of 2 months. The investigation is ongoing.

Recall that the detention of Beket Abishev became known back in March. It was reported that, to illegally obtain subsidies, the suspect provided fictitious documents to the Department of Agriculture regarding the purchase of raspberry saplings for 947 million tenge. As a result, he received subsidies in the amount of 474 million tenge — 50% of the supposedly spent sum.

It was assumed that, to launder the proceeds, the former deputy entered into fictitious contracts with 21 individual entrepreneurs (IEs) for the packaging, loading, and unloading of saplings without actually carrying out the work.
