The Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) in the Mangystau region has identified signs of anti-competitive actions by the akim of the village of Taushyk in the Tupkaragan district.

According to Lada.kz, the village akim's office entered into contracts with state utility companies that restricted competition in the area.

As reported by the agency, the akimat unjustifiably held a single-source public procurement tender for street lighting services.

"The Department issued a notice of antitrust response to the village akimat, which has been fully complied with," the statement said.

As a result, the village akim was fined 100 MCI (393,200 tenge).

For context, in October last year, in the Akmola region, the akim of the Esil district, Serik Balzhanov, was fined for failing to provide information in response to a court request.
