The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has uncovered the theft and legalisation of budget funds allocated for the development of livestock farming in the Almaty region.

According to the FMA press service, in 2023 in the Uygur district, the chairman of an agricultural production cooperative (APC), using false information about the number of sheep, received subsidies totalling 50 million tenge.

"In order to bring his criminal income into legal circulation, the chairman of the cooperative, contrary to the terms of subsidisation, transferred part of the received budget funds to the cooperative's deposit, and used the incoming dividends for his own needs", the statement says.

As a result, the court found the chairman of the cooperative guilty of embezzling budget funds and legalising criminal income, sentencing him to 6 years in prison

It should be recalled that earlier in Aktobe, a district maslikhat deputy, while head of a farm, fraudulently decided to take out a loan of 780 million tenge. To do this, he submitted to the Agrarian Credit Corporation a contract for the purchase of 1,200 head of cattle. However, the former head did not have a real opportunity or intention to make the purchase. As a result, the court found him guilty of fraud and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.
