In Astana, the police have shut down a channel supplying meat products of unknown origin at the "Alem" market.

According to Polisia.kz, during an operational preventive "Cattle Rustling" operation, police officers detained a 41-year-old man who was preparing veterinary accompanying documents for meat without permission from the authorised bodies.

It is reported that the suspect, for a fee, placed a stamp on meat products, which allowed sellers to sell them without the necessary permits.

A criminal case has been opened on the forgery, manufacture, and sale of fake documents, stamps, and seals.

The police have issued an order to the market administration to take measures to prevent such violations from recurring.

It should be recalled that earlier, Astana police, together with the veterinary inspectorate, uncovered an illegal meat processing workshop. The total weight of the seized meat was 3 tonnes.

Incidentally, the editorial board of FBRK recently published a series of investigations into potential schemes in the export of meat products and live cattle, as well as fictitious inspections at markets, the concealment of outbreaks of anthrax, and illegal trade in saiga meat.

Furthermore, we have written about how the country's veterinary safety system, controlled by the Ministry of Agriculture, allows the import of potentially unsafe products.
