In Stepnogorsk, on 19 March, at the Zapadnaya mine of the Bestobe mine, owned by JSC GMK Kazakhaltyn, a worker died in a rockfall.
According to Cmn.kz, the collapse of rock mass occurred during the lifting of timber for support.
As a result of the incident, two mine workers were injured. One employee died at the scene, while the other managed to escape and is currently in the city hospital.
Meanwhile, the police department of the Akmola region reported that a criminal case has been opened in connection with the miner's death.
It is worth recalling that on the same day, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP reported the death of a worker at the East Zhezkazgan mine in the Ulytau region. The company noted that the tragedy occurred as a result of an accident.
