In the Zhambyl region, at one of the mining and processing complexes of JSC "AK Altynalmas" a worker was buried under rock.

According to the company's press service, the incident occurred on 18 September. An emergency rescue team arrived at the scene. A search operation has been underway ever since.

It is reported that access to the collapse zone is difficult due to rock movement and complex geographical conditions.

"The company has launched an investigation into the accident, and all necessary measures are being taken with all available forces and resources to find the worker who remains trapped under the rubble", the statement said.

It has become known that a working group was established after the incident. A special commission is investigating the circumstances and causes of the accident.

Incidentally, in October last year, it was reported that at the gold mines of the company "Altynalmas", located not far from Stepnogorsk, over the course of 5 years, 4,295 people were brought to administrative responsibility for illegal entry into the mines. Furthermore, in 2023, 3 illegal prospectors died in the mines.

For context, at the beginning of September in the East Kazakhstan Region, 5 workers died at the Irtysh and Artemyevsk mines, owned by the copper mining company "KAZ Minerals" .

In July, a worker died after blasting operations at the "Sokolovskaya" mine in the Kostanay region, owned by Eurasian Resources Group

In December last year, a worker died at a mine owned by the company "Kazakhmys" in the Ulytau region. The tragedy occurred at the "Zhylandy" mine.

A month before that incident, another tragedy occurred at Mine No. 57 of the East Zhezkazgan mine at the same enterprise. A mining foreman died.

In August last year, in the Karaganda region, a fire occurred on a conveyor belt at the "Kazakhstanskaya" mine of the coal department of JSC "ArcelorMittal Temirtau", where 227 people were present at the time. Five miners died.
