In the Almaty region, landowners have not paid the state 1.5 billion tenge for changing the designated purpose of their land. Among the defaulters is a company belonging to the daughter of the former regional governor.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the law requires landowners undertaking such actions to pay the cadastral value of the land plot.
In total, prosecutors across the region have identified more than 100 such landowners. It is reported that 236 million tenge has already been repaid to the budget, with the remaining amount in the process of recovery.
Additionally, this year regional prosecutors have reclaimed 155 plots of unused land covering 12,500 hectares with a value of 2.5 billion tenge.
For example, in 2020, one enterprise in Konayev was granted 500 hectares of land for the construction of a hydroelectric power station. However, construction has still not begun to this day.
In turn, Solid Cristal LLP in the Ili district was allocated a plot of 38 hectares valued at 339 million tenge. It has emerged that it has not been used for more than 6 years since it was acquired.
According to ORDA, the company belongs to the daughter of the former governor of the Almaty region, Amandyk Batalov – Sayora.
"Through the measures taken by the regional prosecutor's office, these plots have been returned to state ownership. It is worth noting that as a result of the prosecutorial response measures, approximately 1 million hectares of land that were not being used for their intended purpose are at the stage of being returned", the statement read.
