In the Kyzylorda region, the chief accountant of a school was convicted after the prosecutor's office of the city of Baikonur uncovered the embezzlement of budget funds during an analysis of the legality of budget spending in educational organisations for the years 2022–2024.

According to the press service of the department, the chief accountant of the secondary school systematically transferred inflated salary amounts to the accounts of several teachers. Later, at her request, the teachers returned the excess money transferred to the accountant's personal account. As a result, the state budget suffered damages of 52 million tenge.

The prosecutor's office conducted a pre-trial investigation into the signs of a crime under paragraph 2 of part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted another's property"). Upon completion of the investigation, the case was sent to court.

Ultimately, the court found the chief accountant guilty and sentenced her to 7 years' imprisonment. The execution of the sentence was suspended for 5 years because the convicted woman has minor children.

Recall that earlier it was reported that the Department of the Agency for Financial Monitoring of the West Kazakhstan region is investigating the embezzlement of budget funds by the State Public Utility Enterprise "West Kazakhstan Industrial College"

The director of the institution is suspected of organising the fictitious enrolment of dozens of students. The damage to the state is preliminarily estimated at over 49 million tenge.
